Hingga pekan ini tidak ada pertandingan yang akan dilakukan oleh tim Primavera.  Di tengah minimnya berita dari Bianconeri junior, Adam Rigby memanfaatkannya untuk mengulas dua pemain kunci Primavera, yakni Andrea Schiavone dan Stefano Padovan. 

Para pemain junior (di setiap tingkatan usia) saat ini masih libur musim dingin.  Hal ini memungkinkan kita untuk membahas lebih rinci pemain yang menunjukkan kecemerlangannya di tim Primavera.  Selepas liburan, para pemain dituntut untuk memberikan kemampuan terbaiknya, karena akan segera menghadapi pertandingan panas, termasuk  pertemuan melawan Fiorentina.

Satu kali pertandingan liga dan dua kali di Coppa melawan La Viola akan sangat menentukan perjalanan musim ini kedepannya.  Marco Baroni membutuhkan penampilan terbaik dari timnya.  Termasuk dari dua punggawa asli Turin berikut

Andrea Schiavone

Telah menemukan bintangnya sejak usia sangat dini, Schiavone selalu mampu bermain di tingkat lebih tinggi dari level seharusnya dia berada.  Dia mampu menembus Allievi Nazionali (U-17) ketika masih berusia 13 tahun, dan membuat debutnya di Primavera pada usia masih 17 tahun (2010).  Walaupun mungkin bukan dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang produktif di negara lain (bahkan di tim Italia lainnya), namun ingat bahwa dia melakukannya sangat sering di Juventus junior.

Walau pemain muda dan timnya nyaris diabaikan pada era Alessio Secco, namun dia masih mampu menunjukkan penampilan yang memikat dan dapat membuat pengaruh.  Seiring dengan perkembangan karirnya, Schiavone semakin menunjukkan bakatnya, bahkan telah dibandingkan dengan Andrea Pirlo oleh Massimo Maddalone -pelatihnya ketika masih di Regionali (U-15).  Delapan belas bulan kemudian, pelatihnya di Allievi menyamakan dia dengan Daniele De Rossi.  Bahkan pada akhir musim pelatihnya berkata "Saya percaya bahwa Schiavone akan bermain baik untuk Primavera.  Dia tidak akan menghadapi masalah dengan peningkatan fisik, kakinya kuat, perkasa di udara dan baik dalam melakukan tackle.  Tendangannya juga bagus, terutama kaki kanan.  Dia adalah salah satu permata Juve".

Dengan pertandingan debut yang selalu sukses (dia tercatat memberikan dua assist dalam penampilan pertama di Primavera), teknik individu Schiavone telah terbukti hebat.  Dia memiliki prospek untuk menjadi pemain seperti Claudio Marchisio dan Raffaele Palladino yang mampu menembus tim utama. 

Schiavone melakukan tugasnya dengan baik, mengambil ban kapten setelah Alberto Libertazzi cedera dan memimpin tim menjadi tidak terkalahkan.  Bersama partnernya Yussif Chisah, dia mengawal formasi 4-2-3-1.  Schiavone telah bermain 12 kali dari 13 pertandingan liga dan tiga dari empat pertandingan Coppa.

Schiavone adalah satu dari sedikit pemain yang jarang mengalami rotasi dari Baroni.  Dia mampu menjadi filter bagi pertahanan, sekaligus kadang membuat gol krusial bagi timnya.  Dia berhasil mencetak tiga gol di liga dan mengambil pinalti penting dengan tenang, saat melawan Napoli di Coppa.

Stefano Padovan

Jika gol adalah bonus dari Schiavone, maka bagi Stefano Padovan (17 tahun), gol sudah menjadi sesuatu yang sering diberikannya.  Dengan tinggi badan 1.86 meter, striker kelahiran Turin ini merupakan ujung tombak dengan sentuhan yang mematikan.  Hal ini terbukti dengan 4 gol dalam dua pertandingan terakhirnya menjelang libur musim dingin.  Total, dia sudah mencatatkan 7 gol dalam 9 penampilannya.  Rata-rata dia mencetak gol setiap 82 menit.

Padovan menjadi tidak terhentikan semenjak Libertazzi cedera.  Bahkan Padovan dipanggil pelatih tim nasional Azzurini, Alberigo Evani,  untuk menghadapi Ukraina.  Dan dia pun membayar kepercayaan tersebut dengan mencetak dua gol -dari lima gol kemenangan Italia, dalam 80 menit penampilannya di lapangan.

Kepemimpinan di Bianconeri berubah dalam dua tahun terakhir.  Beppe Marotta terlihat sangat senang dengan perkembangan Schiavone dan Padovan.  Dia juga memberikan pelatih terbaik untuk mengembangkan skuad junior.  Kini, tantangan bagi skuad muda untuk menjawabnya.

Al Kass International Cup

Dimulai sejak  9 Januari hingga 17 Januari, Tim Juventus  usia 17 yang dipimpin Fabrizio Del Rosso akan berpartisipasi di Al Kass International Cup, yang diprakarsai Al Kass,  Spire Zone Foundation and Qatar Football Association.   Kejuaraan tersebut adalah yang pertama dan rencananya akan diadakan setiap tahun dalam rangka mendukung promosi Qatar untuk menyelenggarakan Piala Dunia pada 2022.   Berikut adalah skuad Bianconeri  Allievi yang dibawa.    Juventus akan berhadapan dengan tim seperti  Ajax, Barcelona dan PSG.

‘Juventus Primavera & Youth Sector’ Latest: Presenting Schiavone & Padovan – Setting Primavera’s Pace

Without any games until this week-end and training only just resuming, the lack of young Bianconeri news was taken as an opportunity by our resident expert Adam Digby. Busy as ever, he profiles two more players to have played key roles in the Primavera side this season: Andrea Schiavone and Stefano Padovan. Read on to find out if the kids are future champion material.

The Campionato (at every age level throughout the Settore Giovanile) remains on its Winter Break, allowing us to continue where we left off last week and fill in some details on the youngsters making an impression at the Primavera level. The squad will need to be firing on all cylinders when games resume, given that Juve’s post-break fixtures include two back-to-back encounters with the only side to beat them this term, Fiorentina.

The league and Coppa double-header vs. La Viola shapes up to be a defining one in their season, and with the 2012 Viareggio Cup looming large, Marco Baroni will require nothing less than the best from his team. These two Turin natives represent just that.

Andrea Schiavone

Tipped for stardom from a very early age, Schiavone has always found himself playing at a higher level than his years should allow. He broke into the Allievi Nazionali (U-17) when still only 13 and made his Primavera debut in early 2010 at just 17 years of age. Whilst this may not be considered prolific progress in other countries (or indeed other Italian teams, even), remembering he has done so during the Juve Youth Sector’s perhaps worst-ever period makes the achievement even more remarkable.

Indeed, with the young players and their teams almost entirely neglected during the Alessio Secco era, it is highly impressive the Turin-born midfielder has still managed to make such an impact. As his fledgling career has progressed, Schiavone has adapted his game accordingly, from being compared to Andrea Pirlo by Massimo Maddaloni – his then coach in the Giovanissimi Regionali (U-15) – as far back as 2008 to the Allievi coach eighteen months later, Domenico Maggiora, likening him to Daniele De Rossi. The manager said of him last season:

I am convinced that Schiavone will play well with the Primavera, he will have no problem with the increased physicality. He is an excellent player with great feet, is strong in the air and the tackle, while also having a great shot, especially with his right foot. He really is one of the jewels of Juve.

Having always enjoyed successful debuts (he registered two assists on his bow for the Primavera, under Giovanni Bucaro’s predecessor Luciano Bruni), Schiavone’s technical skill is clearly evident as he looks to emulate players like Claudio Marchisio and Raffaele Palladino while he makes the leap into the first team. He may find his path there blocked however, with Gabriel Appelt and Luca Marrone(within the club’s ranks) and the out-on-loan Manuel Giandonato (currently with Lecce) already set to fill in for the magnificent M-V-P trio of Marchisio, Arturo Vidal, and Pirlo.

Schiavone is doing his best to jump the queue though, taking over as captain in the absence of injured Alberto Libertazzi and leading the incredible unbeaten run enjoyed by Baroni’s team. He has formed a superb midfield partnership with Yussif Chibsah, anchoring the 4-2-3-1 formation alongside the Ghanaian to great effect. Schiavone – who turns 19 in February – has played twelve of the team’s thirteen league fixtures to date, as well as three of their four Coppa ties.

One of the only players not to suffer from the seemingly endless rotation employed by Baroni, the youngster has already featured in as many games this term as he did in the whole of the previous campaign. He has kept his place not only through industriously providing a strong filter for the defence, but also key goals and thus valuable points to his team. He enjoyed none of his three league strikes with more delight though, than his coolly-taken penalty in the Coppa Italia Quarter-Final tie against Napoli.

Stefano Padovan

If goals have been a bonus from Schiavone, then for the 17 year-old Stefano Padovan they have become almost automatic. Already standing 1.86 meters, the Turin-born striker not has not only already developed the physical characteristics of a typical prima punta, he has the lethal finishing touch of one too. Notching 4 goals in his last two appearances to enter the Winter Break with an overall record of 7 in nine games, his strike rate becomes even more remarkable when taking playing time into account, equating as it does to a goal every 82 minutes.

Studying to become a surveyor as well as playing, Padovan has been simply unstoppable since the injury to Libertazzi freed up a spot in the line-up, to the point where the latter will find reclaiming his place no longer the formality it has been in previous seasons. Padovan’s fine form has led to further progression in the Azzurrini set-up as well, with U-18 coach Alberigo Evani giving him his debut against the Ukraine last week, at the Memorial Valentin Granatkin tournament in St. Petersburg. His scoring streak continued, with the player netting two more goals and playing 80 minutes during Italy’s 5-0 victory.

The Bianconeri leadership has changed its approach over the last two years, Beppe Marotta making clear the desire to see young players such as Schiavone and Padovan progress to the first team, and investing heavily in players for the Settore Giovanile once again. By also providing coaches of a standard befitting the genuine quality now found within the junior squads, Juventus finally have men in whom they can entrust the future of these players. Now they must continue to deliver.

Al Kass International Cup

Starting today – January 9 – Juventus Under-17′s, led by Fabrizio Del Rosso will take part in the Al Kass International Cup, hosted by Al Kass, the Aspire Zone Foundation and the Qatar Football Association. It is the first edition of an annual event that the nation hopes to use as its first foray into international football in the build-up to the World Cup 2022. Below are the players, drawn largely from the Bianconeri’s Allievi squad, chosen to represent the club in the tournament that ends on January 17 and features teams such as Ajax, Barcelona and PSG.

Seven-goal Juve light up Saudi Arabia

Juventus resumed their preparations for Sunday’s return to championship action with a commanding 7-1 win over Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal. The testimonial fixture - a fitting tribute to honour the distinguished career of Mohamed Al-Deayea - gave Antonio Conte’s men the opportunity to put on a show for their Middle-Eastern fan base. And the Bianconeri did just that, treating the King Fahad International Stadium to an entertaining seven-goal showing.

Conte opted for a blend of youth and experience, combining the team’s consistent spine (Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Vidal, Marchisio and Matri) with full-backs Sorensen and De Ceglie, Marrone in midfield and Elia and Del Piero operating either side of Matri.   

Juventus immediately gained control of possession and swarmed forward from the off. Del Piero, who saw his every touch greeted by enthusiastic cheers throughout, began brightly and had Juve’s first shot on target after ten minutes. Marchisio slipped the frontman into space, with Al-Deayea getting down smartly to block his goalbound attempt.  

But the captain was soon handed another opportunity three minutes later and this time made no mistake. The striker executed a sharp turn in the penalty area and caught the goalkeeper by surprise by slamming a fierce left-footed shot home.

The hosts regrouped and aimed to ask a few questions of the Bianconeri rearguard. Alshlhob’s well-struck free-kick from range looked to be creeping inside the near post, but Buffon watched it all the way and was on hand to repel the danger.

Undeterred, Juventus went back on the attack and soon found themselves two goals to the good. Vidal showed fine vision to thread a slide rule pass into the path of Del Piero, who responded in kind by delicately clipping the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Two soon became three shortly after the half-hour mark, courtesy of a fine solo effort from Elia. The Dutch winger embarked on a mazy run before cutting in and firing a low right-footed strike to register his first goal in black and white.  

The Bianconeri extended their lead on the stroke of half-time. Del Piero cut the ball back from the byline, Matri slipped a pass to Vidal and the Chilean slotted a fine curling attempt into the top corner.

Conte made wholesale changes at the interval. Storari replaced Buffon in goal, Lichtsteiner, Chiellini and Estigarribia joined Sorensen in defence. Giaccherini, Pazienza and Pepe played further forward in midfield, while Krasic, Quagliarella and Vucinic made up the three-pronged strikeforce.

Contrary to the first period, it was the visitors who made the most promising start and saw their endeavour rewarded with a goal just moments after the restart. Alharthi capitalised on hesitancy in the Bianconeri rearguard, stealing in to prod the ball past Storari from close range.

Yet the new arrivals soon began to make their mark and Chiellini followed up his recent goalscoring exploits by notching another less than a month after his equaliser in Rome. Quagliarella touched the ball back for the defender, who drilled a strong shot into the roof of the net.

With fifteen minutes remaining, Pepe made it six. The in-form winger placed the ball down just outside the area and curled a glorious free-kick over the wall, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Goal number seven arrived five minutes from time. Quagliarella connected with Vucinic’s inviting cross towards the far post and steered the ball into the bottom corner.

Alamri’s final whistle brought Juve’s Middle-Eastern adventure to a close. The team’s mini-tour has been a roaring success, with Conte’s men having enjoyed wonderful hospitality and facilities in both the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The Bianconeri will now return to Italy ahead of Sunday’s championship fixture against Lecce.

Tak terpengaruh dengan hal tersebut, Juventus kembali melakukan serangan dan segera menambah keunggulan.   Vidal menunjukkan visi cemerlangnya dengan melakukan passing kepada Del Piero.  Akhirnya, Del Piero kembali mencetak gol dengan tendangan datarnya mengecoh kiper.

Tambahan gol ketiga terjadi tak lama kemudian.   Berawal dari solo run yang dilakukan Elia,  pemain sayap Belanda menimbulkan kepanikan bagi lini belakang Al Hilal.  Kemudian, dengan menggunakan kaki kanannya, Elia berhasil mencatatkan gol pertamanya di tim hitam putih.

Juventus semakin menambah keunggulan menjelang akhir babak pertama.  Del Piero berhasil memotong bola dan mengumpannya ke Matri yang diteruskan kepada Vidal.  Gelandang asal Chili melesakkan bola ke sudut atas gawang dan Gol.

Gol ketujuh hadir ketika waktu pertandingan tersisa lima menit.  Adalah Quagliarella yang menerima umpan matang dari Vucinic dari sisi sayap.  Dengan sekali sentuhan, Quagliarella mencetak gol dengan tendangan kerasnya ke sudut bawah gawang.

Akhirnya, Alamri meniupkan peluit tanda berakhirnya pertandingan yang menutup petualangan Juventus di Timur Tengah.  Tur ini berlangsung sukses, di mana Juventus mendapatkan pelayanan dan fasilitas yang luar biasa -baik di Uni Emirat Arab maupun Saudi Arabia.  Juventus akan segera kembali ke Italia untuk menghadapi Lecce di Serie A Minggu ini.
